Welcome to the 2011 - 2012 school year! The faculty and staff at DCS have had a very busy this summer preparing for the start of the school year and our incoming students. We are looking forward to a fantastic year!
The Light of Learning was passed from the Class of 2011 to the Class of 2012 at our graduation ceremony in June, and we are anxious to see our seniors emerge as leaders in our school. The seniors are very instrumental in establishing a positive climate within our school, and each year we look forward to working with them as they step into this leadership role.
We believe that it truly does take a whole village to raise a child, and feel most fortunate to be in partnership with parents, guardians and the Dundee community. Our students are at the heart of it all. It is our goal to aid in the development of all young people who will become positive and productive members of our school and society. With teamwork and a strong commitment to high expectations, we know this goal can be achieved and all of our students will find success.
Parents - “Our children are a gift we send to a time we will not see” is a quote written in a book by Dr. Tim Kimmel. This thought provoking quote is inspiring and challenging to parents and educators alike, as we work together to teach and guide our children. The faculty and I look forward to working alongside you to discover and develop the natural gifts of our students, and provide a positive and nurturing educational journey. Please feel free to call, email or stop in when questions regarding your child’s education arise. A recommended guide for communicating concerns is included on the following page. We look forward to working with you in the upcoming school year.
Students – Stay focused on your goals and do the best that you can to make this year full of great experiences, lasting memories, and awesome new learning. Remember that “Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire.” - Fred Spero. In each of you there are gifts, talents and abilities that can change the world around you. I hope that each of you will embrace the power and strength of an educated mind and your “fire” for learning and success will grow stronger this year.
I sincerely look forward to the exciting 2011-12 school year that is ahead of us. Together, let's make it a great year!
